Coastal Flooding in Imperial Beach

While there is a great discussion and debate about seal level rise, it was interesting this morning (January 28) to see the ocean flood over the beach and into the street this morning in Imperial Beach, California not too far from our office. In this case high tides and 4-6′ surf conspired to overrun a berm that sloped downward toward the beach, resulting in flooding. The tides and surf will increase over the next few days.
