On Saturday April 27th, 2019 members of the marine protected area (MPA) enforcement community joined WILDCOAST to engage the fishing public in a MPA outreach event. Officials and representatives from California Department of Fish and Wildlife, San Diego County District Attorney’s office, City of San Diego Parks and Recreation and the MPA Collaborative gathered in the early morning hours to distribute newly developed San Diego County MPA Wildlife and Recreation guides and pocket MPA regulation guides to anglers at Dana Landing launch ramp. Digital copies of the guide may be downloaded here.

The event was held to enhance compliance in San Diego County’s eleven MPAs. As the summer months quickly approach, an increased fishing pressure is sure to follow. To enhance MPA compliance and help our fishing community avoid costly citations, WILDCOAST and allied agencies are striving to bring awareness to the rules, regulations and boundaries that exist as part of California network of 124 MPAs.

Please help WILDCOAST to enhance MPA compliance and create informed coastal and marine stewards. Illegal fishing and unlawful take of ocean resources can be reported to the CalTip hotline 1-888-334-CalTIP (888-334-2258).
